Standalone freezers run harder than the freezer compartment in a fridge-freezer combo, so their compressors, door seals and defrost systems tend to show wear sooner — especially in chest freezers used for bulk or commercial storage.
Heavy frost/ice buildup is the single most common issue we see, and it's often a defrost heater or door seal problem rather than anything to do with the compressor — a much cheaper fix if caught early.

Could be a thermostat fault, a blocked vent, or (less commonly) a refrigerant issue — diagnosed on-site.
Heavy frost or ice buildup
Usually a failed defrost heater/timer, or a door seal letting in warm, humid air.

A worn door seal or a dirty condenser coil forces the compressor to run far more than it should.
Loud compressor noise
Could be the compressor mounting, or in older units, a sign the compressor itself is wearing out.
